A quick note so nobody turns up at the wrong door: the Apple Hill Half is put on by Capital Road Race Management and raises money for the Camino School PTO. We are the start line, the finish line and the wine afterwards. Entries, start times, course maps and race-day questions all live at applehillhalf.com.

Three Races, One Start Line

Pick your distance.

Every course starts and finishes between our vines and runs out through the orchards and fruit ranches of Apple Hill on paved road.

13.1Miles

Half Marathon

A loop through the farmland with a short out-and-back, six aid stations along the way, and the hills you would expect at three thousand feet.

3.1Miles

5K

An out-and-back on the same roads, one aid station, and a real shot at a personal record if you want to chase one.

¼ & ½Mile

Kids’ Fun Runs

A quarter mile for the smallest and a half mile for the older ones, on their own short course, with the same finish line as everyone else.

After the Finish Line · Our Part
The bit we handle: The VIP Wine Package A glass of ours, on the patio, once you are done.

Add it to your registration for $20 and you finish the morning on our patio looking out over the vineyard you just ran through, with your choice of Morton Family Cellars red or white in a keepsake Apple Hill Half glass, and live music playing. It is the shortest walk from a finish line to a glass of wine that we know of.

Race Morning

What we can tell you from here.

We are the venue, so this is the local knowledge. Anything about entries or timing comes from the race.

01 · Getting Here

Park nearby, walk in.

Race parking is at neighbouring Apple Hill lots within walking distance of the start line rather than at the winery itself. The race publishes the lots for the year, so check their event info before you set off.

2875 Larsen Drive
02 · The Course

Orchards, not trails.

Everything is on paved road through the farmland and fruit ranches of Apple Hill, undulating rather than flat, with views across the Sierra foothills for most of it. Chip timing, aid stations and age-group awards throughout.

Paved throughout
03 · Why It Exists

It funds the school.

The race is a major fundraiser for the Camino School PTO, and the age-group awards are pies and treats from Apple Hill farms and bakeries. It is a local event in the fullest sense, which is why we hand over the vineyard for it.

Camino School PTO

Not running? The tasting room is open as usual that afternoon, and the patio is a good place to wait for somebody who is.

Good to Know

Before race morning.

Where do I register?

At applehillhalf.com. We do not take entries, and we cannot transfer or refund one, so anything to do with your registration goes to the race directly.

Do you put the race on?

No. It is organised by Capital Road Race Management and raises money for the Camino School PTO. Our part is the start and finish line, the vineyard the course runs through, and the wine afterwards.

What time does it start?

The race sets the start times for each distance and publishes them on its event info page closer to the day. Check there rather than here, so you are working from their times and not ours.

Where is the start line exactly?

At our winery, 2875 Larsen Drive in Camino. Every distance starts and finishes here, so it is also where you will find everyone afterwards.

Where do I park?

At neighbouring Apple Hill lots a short walk from the start, not at the winery. The race names the lots for the year on its event info page.

What is the wine package?

A $20 add-on to your registration: a glass of our red or white on the patio after you finish, in a keepsake Apple Hill Half glass, with live music. Add it when you register rather than on the day.

Can my kids run?

Yes. There are kids’ fun runs at a quarter mile and a half mile alongside the half marathon and the 5K, so the whole family can enter something.

Is the tasting room open that day?

Sunday hours are 12:00 to 4:30, so yes, once the race has cleared. It is a good place to sit down afterwards whether or not you ran.

Coming Up

Also at the winery.
