A Dog-Friendly Winery in Apple Hill

Your dog drove all the way up the hill with you — of course they're invited. Leashed, well-behaved pups are welcome on our vineyard patio in Camino.

The Policy, Plain and Simple

Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome on our outdoor patio — the one with the view of Biama Vineyard and the Sierra Foothills. That's the whole policy. We're a family-run winery, not a corporate campus with a three-page pet addendum, so it comes down to common courtesy: keep the leash on, keep your pup near your table, and clean up if nature calls.

The indoor speakeasy tasting room stays human-only — it's an underground space from the 1960s, and it's cozy enough without paws under the bar. On a sunny El Dorado County afternoon, though, the patio is the seat your dog would have picked anyway.

What a Visit With Your Dog Looks Like

No special arrangements, no extra fee — just a good afternoon with your dog at your feet.

Settle In on the Patio

Claim a patio table with the vineyard view, order a tasting, a glass, or a wine slushie, and let your dog flop in the shade. We don't sell food, so bring your own picnic — your dog will appreciate your sandwich choices more than ours. Need water for your pup? Just ask.

Daytime Is Dog Time

Bring your dog Friday through Sunday during regular daytime hours. Friday night karaoke is a 21+ evening event with a crowd and a sound system — fun for you, less so for most dogs. If you're planning an evening visit, leave the pup home and come back together on the weekend.

Build a Dog-Friendly Apple Hill Day

Apple Hill is farm-trail country — orchards, ranches, and roadside stands strung along the ridge above Placerville — and much of it happens outdoors, which makes the area a naturally good day trip with a dog. Policies vary stop to stop, so check ahead with each ranch you want to visit; then make the winery your sit-down finale. A patio table, a glass of naturally made wine from our cellar, and a tired, happy dog: that's a day well spent in El Dorado County.

Dogs at the Winery — Questions

Are dogs allowed at Morton Family Cellars?

Yes — leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome on our outdoor vineyard patio. It's one of the dog-friendly winery patios in the Apple Hill area of El Dorado County.

Can my dog come inside the tasting room?

The speakeasy tasting room is indoors and underground, so dogs stay on the outdoor patio. On a nice day the patio is the better seat anyway — that's where the vineyard view is.

Does my dog need to stay on a leash?

Yes, please — leashes on at all times. We're a working winery beside a vineyard, with other guests, kids during the day, and the occasional dropped snack to police.

Is water available for dogs?

Just ask — we're happy to get water for your dog while you taste. (The wine, sadly, is for the humans.)

Can I bring my dog to Friday karaoke?

Daytime visits are the sweet spot for dogs. Friday night karaoke is a 21+ evening event, and a crowd plus a sound system isn't most dogs' idea of fun — we recommend bringing them Friday through Sunday during regular daytime hours instead.
